Automation of a warehouse of the Viola company

According to the results of the first year of the operation of the warehouse management system developed and implemented by AXELOT, the Alt company considerably increased the accuracy of accounting and increased warehouse performance and also practically liquidated regrading. Automation of a warehouse became one of important stages of transition of the enterprise in general on the new level of work and customer service quality.

The Alt company since 1992 turns out paper and clean products for school, the house and office and is a distributor of the large foreign producer of business goods. Now the enterprise – one of leaders of the industry.

In the warehouse "Viola" occupying the space in 5000 sq.m. notebooks, albums, calendars, daily logs, goods of leather haberdashery group, etc. are stored. In total in the nomenclature list of the company there are about 3000 product names from which 1500 positions are active.

Till a certain moment the accounting of goods in a warehouse was carried out in the 1C: Trade and Warehouse program revised by own forces of the company. In 2008 the management Viola made the decision on implementation of the automated control system for a warehouse with use of technology of barcoding. Automation was directed to increase in efficiency of a warehouse and to the solution of two main objectives: introduction of address accounting of goods and reduction of dependence on personnel.

After studying of the Russian market of a specialized software a choice was made for benefit of a system "by 1C Logistics: Management of warehouse 3.0" in which modern functionality and rather low cost are optimum combined. The contractor of the project of automation of the warehouse "Viola" selected the solution designer – AXELOT company. Specialists of AXELOT executed several tens of system implementations "1C Logistics: Management of warehouse 3.0" in warehouses of varying complexity that in many respects predetermines successful work with the new customer and achievement of the object set for the beginning of the project of automation.

The project team got to work in December, 2008; in April, 2009 commercial operation of the automated warehouse began. For this period specialists of AXELOT executed the completions of a standard configuration of the software product considering features of technology processes of a warehouse of the customer, setup of a system according to the principles of merchandising is made, integration with a corporate system at the 1C: Enterprise platform is implemented, personnel training is provided, initial maintenance of a system is organized. In total 5 stationary and 10 mobile jobs are automated. All main warehouse transactions are executed using radio data collection terminals.

The organization of work in the warehouse "Viola" has a number of features. So, for 90% of goods floor storage is used. To perform transactions with goods, labels with barcodes with the cell addresses which are "sewn up" in them are placed on beams under a ceiling; for reading of information radio data collection terminals with the increased range of reading of barcodes are used.

During integration "1C Logistics: Management of warehouse 3.0" in information space of the enterprise the main difficulties arose because and for automation of sales Viola applies the different accounting systems to automation of purchases. Historically in a purchasing information system the customer used technology names of nomenclature positions, and in selling – trade. Jointly project participants came to the conclusion on standardization of names that considerably simplified data exchange process.

Within the project the universal mechanism of assembly of sets which any sets of nomenclature positions can enter was developed: the list of component parts arrives from a corporate information system together with a task for assembly. This transaction is also executed using radio data collection terminals.

After a year since the beginning of work of WMS based on "1C Logistics: Management of warehouse 3.0" can be spoken about really good project deliverables with confidence. The Alt company is completely satisfied with work of own automated warehouse. As result – continuation of cooperation with AXELOT on automation of other sections of activity of the company.
