2021: Announcement of New Airline Storefront

On April 2, 2021, Sabre, a provider of technology and software for the tourism industry, announced the launch of the New Airline Storefront electronic showcase, a technology that optimizes the comparison of complex and multi-component airline fares in an indirect sales channel.

According to the company, from March 31, 2021, the capabilities of New Airline Storefront are available through the Sabre API. Market players will be able to use them to create their own electronic storefronts and optimize the quality of service for travelers. Sabre also plans to implement this functionality in the Sabre Red 360 agency booking tool in the coming weeks.

The New Airline Storefront electronic showcase, based on the Sabre API, distributes airline offers to digital "shelves," which clearly depict the full content of tariff options and help make more informed purchase decisions based on the personal needs of the traveler. This technology allows air carriers to differentiate their offers and use more opportunities to promote products in an indirect sales channel: on the screen with search results, several fares for one flight are displayed at once. In turn, buyers of tourist services got the opportunity to compare available offers and help travelers choose exactly the option that best suits them.

Airlines invest in their brands in different ways to differentiate in the market. On the one hand, this expands the choice for travelers, but also creates a challenge: if the price is easy to see, then it is much more difficult to understand what the level of comfort will be in travel. The Sabre electronic showcase allows airlines to promote their products in indirect sales channels and helps buyers of travel services convey the value of each offer to the consumer.

As part of a pilot test of the capabilities of the electronic showcase, Sabre worked with several agencies, including Fareportal, which includes online agencies CheapOair.com and OneTravel.com, and Espressamente Viaggi, which is part of TravelMatic, a leading technology company and a consolidator of travel services in Italy. The first test results show the ability of the technology to provide greater opportunities for additional sales and increase the purchase amount by transparently displaying the conditions of each tariff.

Consumers want to quickly compare products and offers, as in the store. This is exactly what Sabre's electronic showcase offers: it allows you to group airline products for convenient comparison just as the supermarket places similar goods on one shelf.

As of April 2021, travel agents are in constant tension, trying to provide travelers with the most suitable offer, taking into account their special needs and preferences. Therefore, we need a solution that will allow us to quickly compare proposals and make more informed decisions.

The electronic showcase of New Airline Storefront shows the full product lines of airlines already at the initial stage of the search. This eliminates the confusion associated with different brand names of tariffs and streamlines a wide range of tariff options for more convenient and accurate comparison of offers.
