2021: Announcement of Aerial Intelligent Display - Holographic Assistant on Windshield
In early March 2021, Geely released an intelligent holographic cabin for the car. The AID system or Aerial Intelligent Display ("Smart Air Display") is capable of creating holographic images, displaying data on speed, weather and traffic jams. In addition, the system includes a three-dimensional assistant avatar who knows how to sing and dance.
The new Geely system, developed in conjunction with Prism Entertainment, creates full-color three-dimensional images visible to the naked eye from any angle, regardless of external lighting sources. Unlike conventional projection displays, AID uses microstructure components to restore the light field in a fixed space in the car, that is, it does not need a projection surface and creates 3D images directly in the air.
It is known that the resolution of AID holographic images will be 352 pixels per inch, that is, the "grain" can only be seen at a distance of 20 centimeters. The brightness will be 10 thousand nits, which exceeds the characteristics of modern screens by 4-10 times.
The holographic AI assistant, whose appearance can be customized, will be able to interact with the driver up to 24 hours a day. It can show information about the weather, speed, driving mode and navigator data in real time, as well as warn about dangers. In addition, it provides chat services with the ability to read messages, and can also entertain the user with singing and dancing.
It is reported that the first Geely ICON car with a holographic assistant will appear on the Geely stand at the Shanghai Motor Show. In the future, the Chinese company will gradually equip technology and other models.[1]
