In April 2021, the Federal Customs Service (FCS) announced a competition for the creation of a system for machine analysis of X-ray images from inspection and inspection complexes (IDC).
According to Vedomosti, citing materials posted on the public procurement website, the starting cost of the project is 233 million rubles. It is planned to start implementing the system by the end of 2021, and its full-scale launch is scheduled for the end of 2024.
The publication notes that IDCs are installed at sea and land checkpoints of transport to and from Russia, as well as at airports. They serve to check trucks, trailers, containers, etc.
The system that the FCS is preparing to implement will have to identify prohibited items (weapons, smuggled alcohol and tobacco), as well as recognize goods that are imported in the body of a truck or in a container.
Earlier, the customs authorities received a mobile inspection and inspection complex (MIDK), developed by Rostec on the basis of the KamAZ car. The introduction of such solutions increases the speed of customs clearance - due to the processing of high-quality images at a promising "smart checkpoint": the computer itself decides on the release and, if necessary, sends the picture for analysis to a qualified specialist, according to the FCS.
In March 2021, Rostec introduced IDCs that literally "see" cargo through the walls and are able to detect prohibited goods of any size. IIRs allow you to obtain their X-ray images with the goods transported in them in a few minutes without opening the cargo premises of vehicles. Inspection equipment detects, among other things, small caches and hidden tabs in a cargo weighing tens of tons. At the same time, railway transport does not need to be stopped - cars can be inspected in traffic at speeds of up to 70 km/h.[1]
