2021: Creating a device that detects microphones from students at exams

On April 20, 2021, it became known about the creation in, Russia devices capable of detecting microphones from students during exams. This is the development NGTU NETI of Denis Rublev, a resident of the business incubator of Novosibirsk State Technical University. The product was called "W.M."

The device propagates waves that determine the signal of the microearphone. Then, using the built-in neural network, it recognizes the words spoken in the microphone and voices them with the help of a speaker. Solutions have been created for both small rooms and large audiences. If necessary, the system can be upgraded to a specific task.

Device "W.M."

According to Rublev, the device can be used at exams, olympiads, credits, etc. Unlike widely video surveillance, the device works independently and does not require irreversible tracking of itself. The developers are sure that the frames of the metal detector are also less effective, since they respond only to large metal objects, and mobile phones seized with their help do not need to be carried with them for the correct operation of the microphone. The developer considers the main advantage of the technology that it allows not just to plug the signal, but to find out who exactly uses the microphone, and prove it.

The device "W.M." was tested at NGMU, where, according to the testimony of teachers and students participating in the test, it proved its effectiveness.

The developers appealed to the Ministry of Education of the Novosibirsk Region with a request to offer technology for use at the federal level. The regional department supported this idea and transferred it to federal educational departments, the press service of the NSTU NETI reports. The issue of using silencers in exams requires coordination with the Ministry of Digital Affairs.[1]
