Caribbean Airlines introduced Russian software for buying tickets and checking passengers on a flight

Customers: Caribbean Airlines

Transport

Product: Smart ID Engine (formerly Smart IDReader)

Project date: 2021/04

In April 2021, Caribbean Airlines announced the start of using the software of the Russian company Smart Engines. The largest airline in the Caribbean has introduced Smart ID Engine passport recognition technology into the mobile application, which allows you to automatically enter passenger data in a special form when buying tickets and checking in for a flight.

In order to use this feature, a user of the Caribbean Airlines application needs to put a smartphone camera on a passport, and the Smart ID Engine will extract the document data necessary for issuing a ticket or registering a passenger. It is claimed that during the work, artificial intelligence algorithms developed by Smart Engines specialists ensure the security of personal data processing by performing all calculations on the user's phone.

The check-in process always involves the entry of an identity document. Using Smart Engines technologies, Caribbean Airlines passengers gain a new user experience in autofilling passport data in a mobile application. Passport recognition is available in conditions of both insufficient and excessive lighting, as well as when you go or go in transport, "said Andrew Hurst, chief architect of 2e Systems (developer of the mobile application for Caribbean Airlines).

Smart Engines believes that using the Smart ID Engine solution to recognize identity documents will improve the service of Caribbean Airlines passengers.

Caribbean Airlines noted that the airline is keeping pace with the times, so the task of making the processes of buying tickets and registering for the flight completely contactless has become a priority for the carrier.[1]
