2026: Valencia sign Nigerian Umar Sadyk

In January 2026, Valencia Football Club announced the signing of Nigerian striker Umar Sadyk.

The club tried to acquire Umar in the summer of 2025, but the deal fell through on the last day of the summer transfer window.

2022: President Anil Murthy resigns for threatening player

In May 2022, Valencia dismissed club president Anil Murthy after releasing scandalous audio recordings in which he threatens team midfielder Carlos Soler, the club's official website said.

On the notes, the head of Valencia is candid about the current financial situation of the club, and also speaks poorly about the city leadership.

Just a few weeks ago, the Valencia leadership issued a statement in defense of Anil Murthy, stressing that the media is trying to "distort reality." However, the club has now changed its position and Sean Bay has been appointed interim club president.

"The board of directors of FC Valencia wants to discuss recent events that, unfortunately, affected the club's relations with fans, government agencies and the community. The board would like to clarify that the content of the leaked conversations between Anil Murti and various third parties is the personal opinion of Anil Murti, not Valencia, the Spanish club wrote in a statement.
