2021: Announcement of a bra selection app using a smartphone

At the end of May 2021, the Wacoal underwear brand introduced an application based on artificial intelligence, which allows you to choose the perfect bra using a smartphone.

Applications for determining the size of a bra based on artificial intelligence already exist, but have not yet achieved success and recognition among users. The most famous of them was developed by ThirdLove. The application asked users to photograph themselves front and side in a fitting top, and then selected a bra from these images. But in the end, the company abandoned the application, since customers found it too ridiculous to use.

MyBraFit application

The Wacoal myBraFit application uses a similar principle, but scans the user's body when rotating 360 degrees, and also asks a number of questions: about the inclination of the shoulders, elasticity, shape and size of the chest, as well as about the preferred bra material. The application then calculates the size of the bra and sends the user to the Wacoal website, where it selects several of the most suitable options.

The Company states that it does not store the provided images and uses them exclusively for measurements at this time. At the same time, the application mybraFit recommends only Wacoal bras. The company sells bras with strap sizes from 30 to 46 and cup sizes from AA to I, but not all bras are available in all sizes. It is not yet clear whether the application will give mybraFit recommendations for selecting a bra from other manufacturers if it cannot find the desired option on the Wacoal website.
