2021: Private Wireless Deployment

On May 20, 2021, Infinet announced that it had helped the University of Guanajuato, one of the educational institutions of the state of the same name in Mexico, integrate the most important facility into the existing IT infrastructure, connecting it with the main building and campuses of the university. This made it possible to improve the educational process from an economic point of view and to ensure reliable communication in difficult terrain.

University of Guanajuato

The University of Guanajuato is a private institution of higher education with almost three hundred years of history, which offers studies in college, undergraduate, postgraduate and postgraduate courses with a corresponding certificate. Branches of the university as of May 2021 operate in 12 municipalities of the state of Guanajuato; in addition to them, the university's infrastructure also includes 4 campuses and a college with 11 educational institutions. Until 2014, the North-West Interdisciplinary Center of the University of Guanajuato (Centro Interdisciplinario del Noreste de la Universidad de Guanajuato, CINUG), located in the municipality of Tierra Blanca, was not connected to the internal university network, and when the need for such services became necessary, the management decided. The project included the deployment of a private network that would combine an interdisciplinary center in the north of the city with the main building and campuses. The leadership of the University of Guanajuato planned to use this network for educational purposes - for distance learning and online meetings.

Grupo Delta, Infinet's longtime business partner, took part in the tender. It presented its project to deploy a private wireless network with a repeater in the plan, which could connect the Tierra Blanca facility and the nearest communication network covering the nearby 2830-meter-high Kuliakan hill and stretching to the municipality of Cortasar.

Having worked out the architecture of the project, Grupo Delta specialists went to the area, where, taking into account the special protection status of the natural zone, they installed an environmentally safe repeater. In February 2015, the construction of the first wireless communication channels began with the help of a repeater on the Kulyakan hill and another repeater, which allowed the signal to be transmitted to Tierra Blanca. Using InfiLINK PRO solutions, Delta Group connected the interdisciplinary center in Tierra Blanca with the main building of the University of Guanajuato, achieving a throughput of 200 Mbps. This network operated for four years until in 2019 the existing solutions were replaced by Quanta 5 products: thanks to this, it was possible to double the capacity by building the longest radio channel with a length of 105 km. He connected the Kulyakan hill with the Samorano hill, which made it possible to satisfy the requests of users of the University of Guanajuato network as much as possible.

The transition to the flagship Quanta 5 model helped the university fully appreciate all the benefits of wireless technology. Among them are the deployment of a scalable solution for educational purposes, distance learning with the help of an intranet, economic efficiency, guarantee of full and safe transfer, data profitability, reliability of connection in hard-to-reach terrain, and, importantly, the realization of the educational needs of a university whose students can use internal platforms without swings Internet , and conference calls.

We are very pleased that we provided students and staff of the interdisciplinary center in Tierra Blanca with a high-quality connection: high connection speed allows us to improve the performance in study and work. We express our special gratitude for the help and support during the implementation of the project to Grupo Delta, "says Flavio Herrera Ramos, head of the network and communications department of the Office of Service and Information Technology of the University of Guanajuato, about the project.

{{Quote 'We were based on our own experience of using Infinet products, which provide good throughput and reliability of connection in extreme weather conditions, and sought to use point-to-point topology radio channels in the design of the solution. The products of the Quanta 5 family allowed us to connect the campus with other infrastructure facilities of the University of Guanajuato, covering inaccessible terrain and achieving higher throughput at a distance of 105 km, "emphasizes Guillermo Carrillo Gallardo , IT manager of the University of Guanajuato. }}

As of May 2021, we have installed 50 Infinet kits, and the University of Guanajuato continues to acquire solutions from other families. This proves full satisfaction with the results of the integration and reliability of Infinet products, as well as a willingness to cooperate in the future. We have every reason to expect that the entire platform will consist of Infinet solutions, David Perez, project director of Grupo Delta, sums up on a positive note.

The project was implemented by Grupo Delta, an Infinet partner. For more than 9 years, the company has been cooperating with Avantek, the official distributor of Infinet solutions. Avantek specialists participated in the development of the project and were responsible for the installation, testing, deployment of solutions and the integrity of the network infrastructure of the University of Guanajuato.
