Yandex first began to provide taxi services without a driver while driving

In May 2021, Yandex first began to provide unmanned taxi services. The corresponding agreement was concluded with the Cosmos Collection Izumrudny Les hotel near Moscow.

Self-driving cars will transport guests throughout the hotel, the area of ​ ​ which is 220 hectares. Using such a vehicle, users will be able to get to restaurants, sports and entertainment complexes, parks and cottages located on the territory.

As stated in Yandex, drivers will not control unmanned vehicles, but at the first stage there will be an escort in the passenger seat of such cars. Ordering unmanned taxis is possible from the Yandex Go application.

It is noted that this is the first commercial cooperation of Yandex, where unmanned taxi services are offered. On the territory of Cosmos Collection Izumrudny Les also move on special electric golf cars.

In addition, visitors to Cosmos Collection Izumrudny Les will be able to use the delivery of food from the restaurant using Yandex.Rover robot couriers.

By May 2021, Yandex is experiencing about 100 Toyota Prius + on public roads with a third-generation proprietary autopilot system. Later, these drones will receive details of the new complex. Including cameras and two types of lidars of their own development of the Russian company.

Yandex is also developing the fourth generation of its unmanned vehicles. They are equipped with ten cameras, including with a different focal distance, as well as a sophisticated set of sensors. Four radars now stand on the roof, which allows autopilot to distinguish even more cars in front. A pair of lidars (four in total) are mounted on the front wings along with two radars and better recognize pedestrians and transports in conditions of limited[1] taxi to business
