2021: Launch of the recognition system for people by gestures, poses and direction of view

On May 26, 2021, Visionlabs announced the launch of a set of Human-centric technology computer vision technologies that allow you to recognize and predict human behavior by silhouettes, gestures, poses and direction of view. The main difference between the new development and traditional biometric technologies is the possibility of application without collecting and analyzing personal data, the company explained.

In retail, with Human-centric technology, you can track the direction of look to identify the interest of customers in a particular category of goods. In urban planning, to optimize urban space, the system allows you to track the movement of a stream of people, based on these data sidewalks are laid, crossings are organized, the location of stops and the number of buses on the route are selected. Emergency services technology will provide invaluable help in finding missing people, give examples in Visionlabs.

In addition, the development can be used in industrial, transport, financial companies, as well as in the field of entertainment. The company has already used some of the tools of Human-centric technology to recognize personal protective equipment during the mask mode.

However, experts interviewed by Vedomosti note that recognition of a person by silhouette, gestures and other characteristics is also conditionally related to personal data. Thus, as biometric personal data, the legislation refers to images of a person's face obtained using photo, video devices, and voice data. Roskomnadzor considers personal data to be any physiological metrics that make it possible to establish an identity. According to lawyers, to introduce such technologies, the law on personal data itself needs to be expanded.[1]
