"Karnivak-Kov" is a vaccine against coronavirus infection (COVID-19) for carnivores sorbed inactivated, "developed by the Federal Center for Animal Health Protection (FSBI VNIIZZh) subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor. It is the world's first prophylactic drug for COVID-19 for animals.

2021: Start of pet vaccination against COVID-19

At the end of May 2021, vaccination of pets from COVID-19 coronavirus began in Russia. As a vaccination, the drug "Karnivak-Kov" is used.

Vaccination of pets against coronavirus started in Russia

According to the recommendations of experts, dogs and cats should be vaccinated from the age of six months, and adult pets should be immunized at least once a year.

Earlier, Nikolai Malyshev, a leading researcher at the Gamalei Center, said that there are cases of coronavirus transmission from people to animals, but they are not massive. According to him, it is not necessary to be afraid of contact with animals, but there are vaccines for the protection of animals.

Karnivak-Kov was registered in Russia at the end of March 2021. The drug began to be released in April, the first batch amounted to 17 thousand doses. The term for maintaining immunity after vaccination is estimated at six months. The price of two doses of the vaccine by the end of May 2021 was reduced from 588 to 500 rubles, the recommended trade mark-up should not exceed 30%.[1]
