Limak Distribution Center is a warehouse located in an industrial building adjacent to the LIMAK pasta factory. The facility consists of several rooms for various purposes, equipped with pallet racks of industrial and artisanal production. LIMAK is actively growing and developing, resulting in the need for more efficient warehouse processes.

The management of the company asked AXELOT to conduct a logistics audit and compile a list of recommendations for the organization of the warehouse.

The executors had the task of identifying problem areas in technological processes, warehousing, topology, cargo processing and compiling recommendations for solving the identified problems.

AXELOT measured storage areas, calculated the pallet capacity of warehouses, analyzed cargo turnover data, interviewed key employees of the distribution center about the features of current business processes and identified weak technological and organizational places. For example, it was found that despite the large storage space, the storage system is organized in such a way that it does not allow processing seasonal peaks without losing productivity. Among other things, it was found that the applied technology of the address warehouse allowed the influence of the human factor on the results of a number of operations, which led to non-compliance with the requirements for the residual shelf life, and also did not provide satisfactory quality of search for the necessary goods during selection.

According to the results of the survey, Limak management received a list of recommendations on optimizing the current warehouse business processes and warehouse topology, improving the efficiency of cargo flow processing and optimizing the existing IT infrastructure.

In particular, changes were proposed in the topology of individual warehouses and the introduction of a system for managing the level of product balances in order to reduce the depth of inventory and to better distribute the level of inventory in terms of warehouse load. The optimal solution is to change the current business processes for further automation and implement a WMS class system that will increase the synergistic effect of the changes being implemented.
