2021: Agreement on the Development of the Transport System of the Region

The governor Sakhalin oblastivalery Limarenko and the CEO of JSC Rusatom Infrastrukturnye resheniya (enters into ROSATOM State Corporation) Ksenia Sukhotina signed on June 3, 2021 the cooperation agreement. The document enshrines the intentions of the parties to carry out comprehensive cooperation on the development of the urban public transport system and the implementation of projects aimed at improving the environmental friendliness and efficiency of the transport complex of the region.

"The road network of the South Sakhalin agglomeration is overloaded with private cars. As a result, traffic jams occur on the roads, and exhaust pollutes the air. To solve this problem, it is necessary to modernize the existing and create a new infrastructure for urban passenger transport, as well as to form an intelligent system that will manage it. It is also necessary to transfer the municipal fleet to the use of environmentally friendly engines. All these measures will allow to unload the road network and make the air cleaner in settlements, "said the Governor of the Sakhalin Region Valery Limarenko.

"The cooperation between Rosatom and the Sakhalin Region is of a comprehensive strategic nature and affects a variety of areas of the economy. The signed agreement opens transport, direction. It will unite the competencies of Sakhalin and Rosatom in this area, will allow the modernization of the public transport system in the region on a modern technological basis using "green" technologies, modern digital solutions and artificial intelligence, "said Ksenia Sukhotina, Director General of Rusatom Infrastructure Solutions JSC.

In accordance with the agreement, the parties intend to jointly carry out a comprehensive modernization of the public transport system, including with the gradual transfer of the fleet to electric engines. The document also provides for the creation of a single operator and intelligent transport system of urban public transport of the South Sakhalin agglomeration. It is also planned to cooperate in the construction of passenger vehicle infrastructure, including charging infrastructure, public transport stops, a road safety center, and road infrastructure.

In addition, Rusatom Infrastructure Solutions, during its work in the region, plans to introduce digital services and services as part of the implementation of projects, as well as their integration on a single information platform. The agreement was signed for five years with the possibility of further extension.
