2021: Birth of 10 children at once

In early May 2021, a resident of South Africa, Gosiame Sithool, set a new world record by giving birth to ten children at once, thereby breaking the maximum of 25-year-old Halima Cissé from Mali, who had previously given birth to nine babies at the same time.

Gosiame Sithowl, 37, originally from the South African province of Gauteng, gave birth to seven boys and three girls by caesarean section while eight months pregnant. Local doctors expected eight children to be born.

Initially, an ultrasound examination showed six children, which surprised future parents. Later, doctors found two more fetuses, so the couple expected the appearance of eight children. During childbirth, it turned out that there were not eight children, but ten. Gosiame Sithool had a caesarean section at week 29 to keep all newborns alive.

I didn't believe it. I doubted it. I was sure that if there were more children, it would be double or triple, nothing more. When the doctor told me, I did not immediately believe. Even when I saw the pictures, I didn't believe it. But over time, I realized that this was really true. But I fought to sleep at night, "says Gosiame Sithool, recalling the first months of pregnancy.

Experts argue that, as a rule, similar situations arise during in vitro fertilization, but in the case of Gosiame Sithool, conception occurred naturally. The next few months, the newborns will spend in an incubator. In addition to ten newborns, Sithool has two six-year-old twin boys.

Gosiame Sithoul's husband, Teboho Tsotetsi, also did not immediately believe that he would become a large father.

I couldn't believe it. I felt like one of God's chosen children. I had to do my own research to see if a person could really conceive eight children. But after I found out that things like this were really happening, and I saw my wife's medical record, I was even more excited. I can't wait to take the children in my arms, "Tsotetsi said.[1]
