As virtualization progressed, the server infrastructure changed, with blades with separate storage and hypervisor. At the time of its implementation, it was a fairly advanced technology, and it fully met the needs of the business.

The pandemic revealed the need to optimize the IT infrastructure of ETM, which was associated with the need to organize the uninterrupted operation of the used applications and the remote work of employees. The company also faced difficulties in scaling the existing infrastructure and managing its individual elements. In case of problems, there was uncertainty to whom to contact - the equipment manufacturer or the software manufacturer. Solving all these problems has become a certain challenge for ETM.

According to the head of the system integration department of the information technology directorate, Alexander Khodzhaev, this choice was based on "three whales": fault tolerance, accelerated installation, simplified scaling.

The choice of the solution itself was carried out by testing and studying various products. In parallel, "classic" solutions with dedicated storage were evaluated.

In the first half of 2021, ETM and KPBS completed the first stage of upgrading the company's infrastructure for VDI and server virtualization. This load profile often has unpredictable growth, so the ease of expansion and linear increase in Nutanix performance are extremely complementary to it. The range of services included testing, sizing, consulting, supply, commissioning, Russian-speaking support and training according to the Nutanix solution. The company took a comprehensive approach to choosing a solution, assessing the possibilities of applying it for both current and potential needs. Thanks to the developed vision, Nutanix is already being implemented in regional logistics centers, where the important advantages of Nutanix - simplifying the data center and managing it - are especially relevant, "comments Alexey Orlov, head of Nutanix at KPBS.
