2021: ROC launches crowdfunding "Mercy Platform"

On June 24, 2021, the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) announced the launch of the crowdfunding Platform of Mercy. This is a joint project of the portal "Милосердие.ru" and the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service.

The Mercy Platform is an online fundraising service for projects of Orthodox non-profit organizations (NGOs) aimed at helping sick children and adults, as well as needy and dependent ones.

ROC introduced crowdfunding "Mercy Platform"

Participants in the platform can be verified Orthodox NGOs with the recommendation of the Synodal Department for Charity, with transparent and regular reporting, registered at least three years ago, not collecting funds for personal cards, but having a site with a form for transferring donations.

In order to join the project, NGOs need to fill out a questionnaire. Applications will be accepted until July 10, 2021, according to the results of the competition, 10 organizations will choose.

We have long wanted to create a project of systematic and long-term support for church social NGOs, "said Julia Danilova, editor-in-chief of the Милосердие.ru portal. - The platform focuses precisely on the expenses of organizations: on the salaries of specialists, on transport, other needs, thanks to which the organization lives and helps. When a person is in trouble, it is easier to raise funds for an address request than for salaries. But in order to provide professional assistance and hire specialists who know how to do their work, charity needs salaries, for this we created a crowdfunding platform.
