2021: Omnia Software Presentation

On June 29, 2021, Dell Technologies introduced Omnia, open source software designed to accelerate and simplify the deployment and management of AI workloads and intensive computing.

Omnia was developed in the Dell Technologies HPC&AI Innovation Lab with Intel support and input from the HPC community. Designed to automate provisioning and manage high-performance computing workloads, artificial intelligence, and data analysis, the solution provides a single, flexible pool of resources to meet growing and diverse needs.

The Omnia Software Stack is an open source set of Anonymous scripts that accelerate the deployment of converged workloads with Kubernetes and Slum, as well as with library frameworks, services, and applications. Omnia automatically deploys the software solution to each server depending on the use case, such as simulations with HPC, neural networks for artificial intelligence applications, or in-memory graphics processing for data analysis. This reduces deployment time from weeks to minutes.

The participation and contribution of the community is very important for the promotion of Omnia. Research Computing of Arizona State University worked closely with Dell Technologies High Performance Computing and Artificial Intelligence Innovation Lab to develop Omnia software to better support mixed workloads, including modeling, high performance computing, and machine learning.

"Our engineers and Dell Technologies have worked together to build Omnia software," said Douglas Jennewein, senior director of research computing at Arizona State University. "Working on code that simplifies the deployment and management of these complex mixed workloads, both at the university and for the entire advanced computing industry, has borne fruit."

Omnia software is already available worldwide.
