2021: Create a new GIS to quickly start fighting infections

In early July 2021, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the creation of a new federal state information system (FSIS) to quickly begin the fight against infections.

The law provides for the creation, operation and development of a system containing sanitary and epidemiological data and providing information characterizing the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population. Information on the results of mandatory medical examinations and medical examinations of citizens of the Russian Federation, foreign persons and stateless persons will be included in this system. In particular, these include tests for the presence or absence of infectious diseases that pose a danger to others, and a disease caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV infection).
