2021: Implementation of SCADA KRUK-2000

On July 6, 2021 the NPF Krug company reported about introduction of industrial control system of torch installation of Novopolotsk oil refinery on base rossiyskoySCADA KRUG-2000.

Increasing the depth of oil refining is a priority in the development program of the oil refining industry.

The complex of delayed coking of oil residues of Naftan OJSC (Novopolotsk) is strategically important for the enterprise and Belarus as a whole, as it will increase the depth of oil refining and significantly reduce the negative impact of production on the environment. The flare unit was commissioned as one of the first in the complex.

Project Objectives:

  • Bringing the ignition and combustion process to existing regulatory requirements
  • Reduction of negative impact on the environment due to increased efficiency of equipment operation
  • Improving safety and working conditions of maintenance personnel.

As a result of the implementation, the system ensured:

  • automatic control of fuel gas supply
  • automatic cascade control of steam supply according to schedule, depending on flare gas flow rate, to provide smokeless combustion
  • automatic flare line tightness check
  • process interlocks and emergency protection of equipment and installations
  • continuous analysis of the presence of hydrocarbon vapors in the air throughout the plant area.

Ignition and control of the plant equipment are possible both automatically from the operator's AWS and from the local control panel.

The project was completed by KRUK together with the Czech company UNIS.

Within the framework of this project, KRUG performed the following works:

  • development of design documentation for the control cabinet
  • control cabinet assembly and configuration
  • development of protection and interlock algorithms
  • Engineering, supervision and commissioning
  • integration with APCS of main coking complex installation based on Honeywell equipment and software.

The controller, AWS (combined with the data server base) and communication lines are made with 100% "hot" redundancy to increase the reliability and survivability of the system and APCS as a whole.
