2021: Announcement of a service to remember new colleagues at work

In early July 2021, the head of the Yandex media services sports department, Mikhail Kalashnikov, announced the creation of the Total Recall service, which is designed to help company employees remember new colleagues, meeting participants and other unfamiliar people. Kalashnikov spoke about the new development in his newsletter The Scope.

To work with the service, you only need a Google table. The Total Recall user creates a Google table with an arbitrary number of columns, where the first column contains the name and the second - a picture. Columns must have headings, no other requirements.

You then publish the file and paste the link into the service. After that, an endless test will begin, where the user needs to choose one of several options.

Sometimes it turns out stupid, but in life, too, you know, everything happens, "said Mikhail Kalashnikov.

The Google spreadsheet can be edited, supplemented, and performed over time. It is noted that the service does not store any data, it is completely static and free. As an example, Total Recall has three loaded tables: with public data from Yandex top managers, with US presidents and 50 best artists.

Mikhail Kalashnikov listed several scenarios in which his service can be useful:

• learn colleagues/participants of an event/any other people;
• quickly remember basic things in a new subject area (why based on people? it seems that memory works better, he noted);
• If users have something like a personal CRM
• service is useful for people who like to call "cringe with their erudition."

According to the top manager of Yandex, the idea of ​ ​ creating Total Recall came to him after he faced the problem of poor memorization of people during the device to a new company.^[1]
