2025: Launch of Russia's first production of elastic titanium implants
The only full-cycle enterprise in the country for the production of medical elastic implants from titanium using exclusively Russian raw materials began to operate in the Moscow technopark Mosmedpark. The production complex is the first such production in Russia, specializing in the creation of biocompatible medical devices. The launch of the enterprise took place in early July 2025.
The opening of production was reported in the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of the city of Moscow. The new enterprise fully provides the technological cycle from the processing of raw materials to the production of finished medical products. The name of the company was not disclosed in the department's message, but it is known that LLC ELTI is a resident of the Mosmedpark biomedical site, and this company specializes in the production of mesh material for reinforcing surgical soft tissue plastics.
Titanium implants are considered among the safest and most biocompatible medical devices. This metal does not provoke inflammatory reactions in the body and practically does not undergo rejection. Titanium is able to integrate into human tissues due to the germination of connective tissue into the structure of the implant.
The production process begins with the processing of thick titanium wire, which during the technological operations is converted into a thread with a thickness of 0.067 millimeters. The resulting thread is five times thinner than a human hair, which ensures high accuracy of medical devices.
On specially designed titanium yarn machines, implants of various configurations and sizes are formed. To create products, knitting, fabric and weaving methods are used, which allows you to obtain products with specified elasticity characteristics.
Manufactured implants find application in various fields of surgery. Titanium nets are produced to strengthen the anterior abdominal wall during hernias. Gynecology uses 57-60 micron-thick filament microcells to strengthen female[1]
2021: Titanium thread implant production launches
In July 2021, Elastic Titanium Implants (ELTI LLC) launched the production of titanium microwire products, which are widely used in surgery.
As reported on the official website of the mayor of Moscow, the production of products from titanium microwires is unique not only for Russia, but also for the world. ELTI began to manufacture products from titanium microwires with a diameter of up to 50 microns.
Investments in the project are estimated at $2 million, and production capacity - 50 kg of titanium microwire and up to 3 thousand finished medical products per year.
LLC "ELTI" is a resident of the biomedical site "Mosmedpark." The company produces a thin surgical mesh material ("Titanium Silk") designed to reinforce soft tissues and is used in hernioplasty (surgical hernia treatment), gynecology and dentistry.
The company also makes threads (suture) from titanium. They are used in band operations to connect damaged tissues. Titanium filaments have good biological compatibility with tissues and do not cause toxic, allergic and other adverse reactions.
Developments are protected by several patents both in Russia and abroad. By mid-July 2021, work is underway to certify products in foreign markets where there are no analogues of the products produced.
According to the manufacturer, titanium implants existing by July 2021, despite their high biocompatibility with body tissues, do not have optimal adaptive and biomechanical properties. Flexible implants based on titanium microwires reduce tissue injury and solve this problem. Titanium does not corrode or disintegrate over time - which opens up new surgical possibilities in organs and tissues with an aggressive environment.[2]
