2021: Implementing MindSphere

On July 13, 2021, Siemens Digital Industries Software announced that the Gas Mobility division of TotalEnergies chose Siemens's industrial Internet of Things MindSphere system to collect and analyze operational data from a network of automobile gas stations. As part of the complete digitalization strategy, TotalEnergies Gas Mobility has already connected more than 50 gas stations in the Netherlands, Belgium and France to the system in the first year. Thus, it seeks to reduce costs by remotely monitoring equipment operation and optimizing maintenance schedules.

According to the company, the decisive argument in favor of the MindSphere platform, included in the Xcelerator software products and services package, was its ability to coordinate and provide digital services, as well as the appropriate level of information security, flexibility in working with data and effective scalability.

According to the Climate Ambition environmental program adopted by the TotalEnergies division, we, like the whole society, must achieve zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. At the same time TotalEnergies Gas Mobility sets as the purpose further expansion of network of gas stations in Europe - up to 450 by 2025. The solution from Siemens based on the Internet of Things technology optimizes the level of service of owners of gas stations and local branches of TotalEnergies in different countries of the world. The system will provide complete control over the operation of the equipment and maintenance costs, as well as reduce the total cost of ownership.

Siemens is our most important partner in implementing the digitalization strategy. Our task is to help other branches of the TotalEnergies around the world expand the supply of compressed and liquefied natural gas, and hydrogen. These alternative fuels require more sophisticated filling equipment. Now it is used under the control of the MindSphere solution from Siemens. Every year cloudy database , billions of parameter values will be entered into a fully protected system from stations connected to the system. Analysis of these data will determine typical operating scenarios of the equipment and identify possible problems before they occur.

The need for digitalization has increased the realities associated with the pandemic and social distancing measures. The division of TotalEnergies Gas Mobility took full advantage of the openness of the MindSphere system and the wide selection of its standard functions in order to quickly scale the project and get results in the first year of its implementation. In practice, it is convinced that MindSphere is one of the right solutions for collecting operational data and further translating it into the right information, the analysis of which helps to optimize the quality of customer service and develop other business models.
