2021: First Russian medium-duty electric truck developed
In mid-July 2021, it became known about an electric truck developed by Drive Electro. A plant is being built for its serial production.
We have already made a car, we have begun certification, in September it ends, "Sergey Ivanov, owner and director of Drive Electro, told Vedomosti. |
It is reported that we are talking about a medium-capacity truck intended for chain stores and transport companies that carry cargo weighing 9 tons. The novelty will turn out to be more dimensional than GAZel, but less than a full-fledged truck, Ivanov said.
The basis for the Russian electric truck will be the chassis of the Japanese model Isuzu ELF - body, cabin and undercarriage, a source familiar with the details of the project told Vedomosti. Ivanov declined to comment, and Isuzu in Russia confirmed the presence of a project with Drive Electro.
The publication notes that the new Drive Electro product is the first Russian medium-duty electric truck. According to Ivanov, the car will be completely electric, the mileage on one charge will be about 200 km. This will be the first production car to be produced at the Drive Electro plant in Zelenograd. Its construction will be completed in May-June 2022, after which the company produces a pilot batch, said the head of Drive Electro. The average production volume will be about 500 cars.
Earlier in 2021, the company announced that it would build a plant near Moscow capable of producing a thousand electric trucks per year. The series will have several models - both heavy trucks with a maximum permissible weight of 19 tons, and lighter vehicles. Electric trucks are planned to be produced under their own brand Drive Electro.[1]
