On July 21, 2021, the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant announced the introduction of IoT solutions for automatic control of the transportation, loading and storage of iron ore raw materials. This project was implemented with the support of MegaFon.
According to the press service, a software and hardware MMK complex using Ultra WideBand wireless ultra-wideband data transmission technology was launched on the belt conveyor of the agglomeration preparation shop (CPASH). UWB
MegaFon said that the transport mark installed on the trolley moves relative to the anchor system available in the gallery, and special software calculates the coordinates of the mark. Then, graphical information about the location of the trolley is transmitted to the dispatcher in online mode and stored in a database with time segments.
This solution allows you to accurately determine the location of self-unloading trolleys and the direction of their movement, as well as optimize the entire technological cycle, MMK said.
According to the head of MMK mining and processing production Andrei Polinov, in addition to accuracy, the advantage of the technology is high noise immunity, which is very important for working in the workshops of the plant. The introduction of a positioning system for self-unloading trolleys should solve such problems as improving the accuracy of warehousing raw materials, improving the quality of the production process by reducing fluctuations in the chemical composition of the raw material mass, as well as reducing time costs and minimizing errors, he explained.
This project is a pilot project. After its implementation, MegaFon and MMK plan to replicate it at other mining and processing facilities of the company. The financial terms of the agreement are not disclosed.[1]
