2021: Launch of capillary blood collection systems in St. Petersburg
In July 2021, it became known that the German company Sarstedt launched the production of capillary blood collection systems at its enterprise in the Maryino industrial park in St. Petersburg. About this "Kommersant" told the general director of the Russian representative office Sarstedt Alexander Belunin.
Initially, the cost of building a plant on a 4-hectare site was estimated at 1.5 billion rubles. However, according to Belunin, the final price increased slightly due to fluctuations in exchange rates. He did not disclose the planned capacity of the site, but noted that the company's sales in Russia are gradually growing, and in some areas, such as laboratory plastic for PCR research, molecular biology, blood gas analysis systems, the demand for Sarstedt products has increased several times, and the company is evaluating the market.
The new complex, designed for 50 jobs, has an area of more than 9 thousand square meters. the main share of production will be blood collection systems S-Monovette and Microvette. It is planned that the products will go to medical institutions in St. Petersburg and other regions of Russia, as well as to neighboring countries.
The project is implemented as part of a memorandum on joint activities concluded between Sarstedt, the authorities of St. Petersburg and VTB Bank.
According to Kirill Kotkin, Director of Business Development, the company's products have been in demand in Russia for more than 20 years, and sales are growing. In some areas, such as laboratory plastic for PCR research, plastic for the development of molecular test systems, blood gas analysis systems, the demand for Sarstedt products has grown tenfold.
