2019: Creating a data center cooling system
Data Center Complex-Host is owned by Complex-Info. Its history began in 2012, when the company's office moved to its own building. It was in it that it was decided to organize a data center.
It all began with the organization in the new server building, designed for 14 racks with a total capacity of 32 kW/hour, "said Dmitry Rogov, director of the Komlex-Khost data center. - We initially built a data center not only for our own needs: we planned to sell Colocation equipment accommodation services. Demand for services turned out to be quite high, so already in 2016 we thought about expanding. |
As a result of scaling, a data center with a capacity of 45 racks with a capacity of 150 kW of IT load was built. It took 3 years to implement this project. The launch of the updated data center into operation took place in November 2019. The features of the building in which the data center was located led to the search for non-standard design and infrastructure solutions. In particular, the height of the ceilings in the premises where the data center was located was 3 meters, which is not enough to mount a false floor. As a result, it was necessary to limit the height of the racks to 42 units.
Data center cooling system
Special attention was paid to the cooling and conditioning processes during the construction of the data center. "When choosing an air conditioning system, we primarily took into account reliability and economy in the process of its operation," explains Dmitry Rogov. - We analyzed the solutions presented on the market and opted for models with inverter compressors. Thus, 5 STULZ ASD 391 AS air conditioners from the CyberAir 3 DX line were installed in our data center. Experience has shown that the choice was correct: the equipment is reliable, they adapt well to the changing heat load and control the temperature with high accuracy. "
Specialists of Complex-Info have worked out in detail the cooling solution. They understood that the commercial data center would be filled gradually, but unpredictable: the load on air conditioners at first would be insignificant, and as it was filled, it would grow. For this reason, the choice was made for air conditioners with inverter compressors, which allow adjusting the cooling capacity in the range from 30 to 100%. Thanks to this, the customer, who puts his equipment in the data center, can expect to maintain the temperature in the exact range and without significant differences, which will also save and extend the life cycle of air conditioners, since with EU compressors they are designed for a mode of varying thermal load in the data center.
Also, external STULZ capacitor units with a significant margin in surface area were selected for the object. This allows the system to operate correctly at critically high temperatures, as well as in cases where the heat load in the hall increases above the planned one.
Among other features of the data center, Dmitry Rogov calls the placement of capacitors in the shadow of the building to increase the productivity of air conditioners and the complete isolation of cold and hot corridors. It was also decided to abandon the built-in steam humidifiers in favor of installing humidification equipment directly in the room. The reason for the latter solution is that the service life of built-in steam humidifiers is shorter, they are less reliable, and their repair, as a rule, requires significant investments.
The cooling system was delivered by HTS, the official distributor of the full line of equipment STULZ (Germany).
The Stulz CyberAir 3 DX line from STULZ is the flagship line of precision air conditioners, which combines all the latest advances in precision technology. In this line, the cooling capacity parameters for the occupied area and for energy consumption are optimally balanced, due to which it is popular and in demand around the world, "explains Alexey Kolokolov, project manager at HTS. - Another significant advantage I note is the diverse staff of options, which allows you to solve any problem within the framework of each specific project. We see a significant trend: more and more customers choose precisely this line for their objects to maintain accurate temperature and humidity parameters. And this trend is fair not only for Russia, but also for the whole world. |
