Medtronic and Renova joint venture launches production of Translumina coronary stents in Skolkovo

The Russian company Stentex, which transfers the technologies for the production of coronary stents and catheters necessary for the treatment of myocardial infarction and unstable angina, will produce Sirolimus drug-coated coronary stent systems under the Yukon Choice PC and Yukon Chrome PC brand, which are developed by the German-Indian company Translumina. This became known at the end of July 2021.
Stentex received permission to produce Translumina coronary stents in Hechingen (Germany) and Skolkovo. Clinical trials of medical devices were carried out at the Central Clinical Hospital of the Russian Academy of Sciences and ended in early June 2021.
Founded in 2010, Translumina develops cardiovascular medical devices used in interventional cardiology and minimally invasive surgery. Production sites are located in Hehingen and Dehradun (India).
Stentex, a joint venture of Medtronic (51%) and Renova Holding Rus (49%), in accordance with the order of the Government of the Russian Federation by July 2021, the only supplier of stents in the domestic market. Special conditions for the state procurement of coronary stents are aimed at further developing the localization of foreign manufacturers of goods for cardiac surgery and cardioplasty in Russia.
According to Roszdravnadzor, in 2020, the maximum cost of stents with a non-absorbable polymer coating that emit drugs decreased by 36.8% compared to 2018, to 25,234 rubles. A slightly smaller drop was shown by prices for stents for coronary arteries, metal uncovered - 26.7%.
Weighted average prices for standard balloon catheters and aspiration catheters in 2020 increased by 5.4% and 6%, respectively, compared to similar prices set for the previous year.
