2021: Resignation as head of Blizzard Entertainment after harassment scandal

In early August 2021, the resignation of Blizzard Entertainment CEO Allen Braque was announced. The dismissal occurred against the backdrop of a scandal centered on a game developer, including the popular World of Warcraft. A lawsuit was filed against the management of Blizzard Entertainment with charges of sexual discrimination and harassment.

The place of the head of Blizzard Entertainment was divided among themselves by executive vice president of development Jang Onil and general manager Mike Ibarra (also a former Xbox executive). The new place of work of Allen Braque is not called.

The company did not officially explain the reasons for leaving, but indicated a desire to change the culture in its company. She said that Onil and Ibarra will strive to make Blizzard the most hospitable workplace and help restore shaken trust.

Allen Brak previously said in an email to the company that he is against harassment. However, according to Massively Overpowered, Braque was accused of not taking any effective remedial measures to curb sexual harassment in the company. The manager allegedly repeatedly talked with employee Alex Ephrajaby about his drinking and harassment of girls, but offered nothing but consultations in an attempt to correct the behavior.

Blizzard was under pressure to change management. Workers were concerned about the developer's dismissive initial response to the lawsuit, which led to a protest in the form of a strike. The head of Activision Blizzard, Bobby Codek, even called the early reaction a deaf tone and promised to quickly take measures to improve culture within the company. In this light, the departure of Allen Brak looks unsurprising, because this is one of the fastest and easiest actions that the company could take. On August 3, 2021, Jesse Meschik, head of human resources at Activision Blizzard, also left the company.[1][2]
