2021: Announcement of the FortiTrust

On August 4, 2021, Fortinet announced the expansion of the offer of security services FortiCare and FortiGuard, adding a security service called FortiTrust. FortiTrust Security offers user activity-based licensing for all networks, endpoints, and clouds that have traditionally been isolated. Initial service levels are offered for Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and identity verification, and other offers will be available shortly.

As the surface of digital attacks expands with billions of devices to protect, organizations are struggling to implement multiple endpoint security solutions and services. The growth of solutions and services has become too complex and expensive to manage when they are spread across different form factors. According to Gartner, organizations are moving to security solutions with integrated service offerings. Fortinet redefines services by expanding its line of security services, which as of July 2021 includes FortiCare and FortiGuard, with the help of FortiTrust, providing a single offer with a single licensing model for flexible consumption options in networks, endpoints and clouds.

According to the company, FortiTrust provides security services that monitor the user throughout the security platform of organizations, which allows you to manage security in all form factors. Capabilities of this offer:

  • Flexible licensing of security services based on user behavior, eliminating the need to monitor the number of devices or bandwidth consumption, and providing easy calculation of the total cost with built-in wholesale discounts
  • Integrated Single Security License Provides Different Uses in Fortinet Security Fabric
  • The ease of implementation of security services allows users to move between different form factors, allowing organizations with a hybrid architecture to move from local to cloud security.
  • Simple options to upgrade and migrate between services.

The extending service portfolio of safety Fortinet FortiTrust supplements existing the FortiCare and FortiGuard service portfolio. FortiCare services are available for all Fortinet Security Fabric products.

FortiGuard security services provide organizations with a variety of services linked to their Fortinet devices, providing coordinated and consistent real-time protection against the most pressing cyber attacks. Security services are FortiGuard configured for different user segments and include separate enterprise services, commercial packages, and small and medium business packages. Using the industry's most comprehensive threat information from FortiGuard Labs, FortiGuard security services offer a suite of artificial intelligence-based security tools that continuously assess risks and automatically configure protection in Fortinet Security Fabric.

In the near future, updates and additional extensions of these services will be released.

The spread of peripherals, along with investments in digital innovation, continues to expand the surface of digital attacks. Many organizations face the challenge of protecting their entire infrastructure as the threat landscape becomes much more complex and more difficult to manage with isolated point products and disparate services. This complexity is compounded by different service pricing structures and a variety of licensing models - from devices, equipment, and users that have remained disparate in different form factors.

By expanding Fortinet Security Fabric's ability to protect people, devices, applications, and data everywhere, FortiTrust provides organizations with unified services to protect any network, endpoint, or cloud with simplified consumption and a single licensing model for all form factors. As a result of Fortinet's expanded service offering, organizations can further protect the growing surface of digital attacks by securing critical devices, data, applications, and connections from the data center to the cloud, home office, and more.

The original portfolio of FortiTrust services includes FortiTrust Access and FortiTrust Identity with additional service options for SASE, CASB and EPP that are scheduled to be released. FortiTrust Access allows organizations to deploy Zero Trust Access (ZTNA) with licensing based on user activity. Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) is critical for ensuring consistent protection, visibility, and control in today's hybrid and highly distributed networks.

ZTNA allows organizations to extend secure application access controls to any user. FortiTrust Access provides services to organizations for ZTNA, including the ZTNA agent and cloud orchestration. This is also based on Fortinet's ZTNA solutions, which uniquely identify and classify all users and devices that require access to the network and applications, regardless of whether users and their devices are on or off the network and applications are locally or in the cloud.

Another level of service FortiTrust is FortiTrust Identity. FortiTrust Identity offers multi-factor authentication through the cloud to verify identity. FortiTrust Identity complements FortiTrust Access by providing the required multi-factor authentication recommended for application access control.

All Fortinet services are also available through partners, which gives them the opportunity to further develop their business and range of offers for customers.
