Thanks to additional investments from Ideanomics, which acquired the startup in 2020, Solectrac introduced its third electric tractor. In a press release, the company said that the "narrow" e70N tractor with all-wheel drive is designed to work on large agricultural land, including farms, orchards and vineyards. The E70N can operate for up to eight hours without recharging from a 60 kWh battery. In addition, at the request of the owner, the company can add a 60 kWh removable battery to the kit for $18 thousand. Solectrac e70N tractor itself costs $75 thousand.

Solectrac E70N Electric Tractor Launch

Solectrac CEO Mani Iyer explained that the category of zero-emission electric tractors for large land is in high demand as many farmers seek to reduce emissions and noise pollution, but still require larger and more powerful vehicles with easy maneuverability.

The first e70N tractors were delivered as part of a grant of $514 thousand from the San Francisco Bay Area Air Quality Management. Its FARMER demonstration program covers up to 80% of farmers' costs to replace diesel tractors with zero-emission alternatives. Deliveries under this program will continue throughout 2021. It is expected that new commercial orders will be delivered to farmers in the spring of 2022.[1]
