PNY Performance DDR5 4800 MHz Desktop, XLR8 Gaming MAKO and 5600 MHz MAKO RGB

On November 18, 2021, the company PNY announced the specifications of the PNY Performance DDR5 memory modules for desktop PERSONAL COMPUTER and memory modules from XLR8 Gaming. These three models include the accelerated XLR8 Gaming MAKO and MAKO RGB models with a clock frequency of 5600 MHz and a CAS 36 delay, as well as a PNY Performance model that meets JEDEC standards.

PNY Gaming DDR5 Memory Specification Declared

According to the company, the XLR8 Gaming MAKO and MAKO RGB modules were developed for various needs of both gamers and fans of acceleration. The design of both modules includes aluminum radiators with elements inspired by the mako shark, from which they got their name. On the side of the module is the XLR8 logo and GAMING text, and on the heat sink are relief lines at a silver angle, reflecting the lighting of other components.

The MAKO RGB is equipped with a bright RGB subassembly that scatters through a geometric polymer light guide tube, ensuring the proper quality of RGB lighting. Users will be able to control the lighting of their modules using the main RGB management software and motherboard synchronization, ensuring trouble-free use of the product.

PC users who want to switch to DDR5, but do not need additional acceleration, and therefore both the radiator and even the backlight - can choose a stricter line - Mako, called PNY Performance DDR5 - an update that uses DRAM technologies.

PNY is testing all modules with its motherboard partners, including ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI, to ensure full compatibility and aggressive acceleration. During comprehensive testing, the XLR8 Gaming MAKO modules were accelerated to 6400 MHz.

Since all models are compatible with the Intel XMP 3.0 profile, XLR8 Gaming MAKO can provide acceleration and allows users to get value from their MAKO DDR5 modules.

Additional processor manufacturers are expected to release DDR5-enabled processors in 2022.

XLR8 Gaming Performance DDR5 4800MHz

On August 23, 2021, PNY announced an addition to its line of PC memory designed for upgrading computers, and aimed at iron enthusiasts and gamers - Performance DDR5 4800MHz memory.

Next Gen Technology

PNY Performance DDR5 memory is designed to support a range of motherboards that work with the DDR5 memory standard. This technology supports many interesting features that were limited or not supported by previous generations of PC memory. DDR5 supports modules with a higher density, four times higher per module, and a higher frequency in the standard configuration. Compared to DDR4, which has a limited standard JEDEC speed of 3200 megahertz, DDR5 frequencies start from 4800 MHz. PNY Performance will also start at 16 GB per module and will have a standard JEDEC frequency of 4800 megahertz.

Performance

DDR5 modules will operate at an ultra-low voltage of 1.1 V, which will increase their efficiency. Existing DDR4 memory is powered by the motherboard converter, but in the case of DDR5, voltage conversion occurs on the module itself, resulting in reduced voltage wear and noise. With its integrated PMIC (Power Management Controller Chip) module, the DDR5 also has more headroom to support acceleration and voltage control.

Processors Intel will support the DDR5 standard along with the release of the model Alder Lake starting in late 2021. In addition, with the growth of support from other manufacturers, DDR5 memory is likely to supplant the old DDR4 technology by 2034.
