2021: BIM Digital Dual Production Development Plan

On August 6, 2021, information appeared that the Kola MMC planned to create a digital production twin. The company plans to develop a virtual copy using BIM - a three-dimensional information model of a built object with a linked database. Its implementation is actively engaged in the team of participants in the corporate program "Who cares." Technology implies a fundamentally different approach to the construction, equipment, maintenance and repair of buildings.

Four investment projects were implemented in the Kola MMC using BIM, but as of August 2021, all these 3D models are practically not used in the work. Employees of the company have only a general understanding of this technology and do not understand all its capabilities and advantages.

As you know, BIM eliminates the additional costs of storing and searching for documents, allows you to collect and process data on all the main characteristics of an object in a single information field. The implementation of BIM will help not only reduce the volume of document flow, unite information and increase its reliability, but also make processes more transparent. So, it will become possible to see who and when works with information, to see the results. You can also automate collision detection when you use the information model. This allows you to correct errors in the initial stages and prepare a project with a minimum number of errors.

The BIM tool provides a large number of functions that facilitate tasks for specialists of various profiles. For example, they can track how sunlight will hit the building in various seasons. The data obtained will help to more accurately calculate the energy efficiency of the facility.

The information model can display not only detailed drawings, but also narrow-profile calculations and plans, demonstrate before the completion of construction what the object will look like in the end.

The project team plans to create a digital production double, i.e. a virtual copy of the company.

At the beginning of August, the project team is engaged in methodological work. The task is to develop the most correct strategy for implementing BIM and transfer the solution to other sites.

But industrial production is not a typical object and there can be no basic solution in this case. That is why we need to develop our strategy as correctly, correctly and with minimal risks to implement BIM.

Further, it is necessary to train staff, develop regulatory documents, equip workplaces with additional computer equipment, as well as conduct a large-scale campaign to inform employees.^[1]
