2021: Connecting coffee machines to the IoT

The international service provider Orange Business Services on August 19, 2021 provided a global connection of De Jong DUKE coffee machines to the Internet of Things. The project used the Orange IoT Managed Global Connectivity solution based on Ericsson's Accelerator IoT.

De Jong DUKE, a family-owned company headquartered in the Netherlands, operates worldwide. For uninterrupted cellular communication of its ConnectMe platform, to which smart coffee machines are connected, the company chose Orange Business Services. The IoT solution ConnectMe allows customers to remotely manage coffee machines in offices and cafes.

De Jong DUKE sought a single provider in Europe and North America to provide reliable cellular communications for coffee machines connected to the ConnectMe. It was also necessary to simplify the management of SIM cards tied to devices on the basis of a centralized IoT platform.

ConnectMe Provides detailed information on coffee machines in real time, including coffee consumption, cleaning cycles and preventive maintenance requirements.

The platform also provides two-way communication with the coffee machine using it as an interactive communication platform. This allows you to remotely run software updates, change recipes, and use the device to announce the upcoming event, show the action for lunch, or run ads on a coffee machine video screen. Easily customizable remotely from a computer or tablet, the ConnectMe platform also provides the ability to order drinks from a mobile phone through a contactless application.
