2021: Installation of pedestrian lighting system at unregulated crossing
ISS on August 20, 2021 announced that it had installed a pedestrian lighting system in Krasnogorsk at an unregulated crossing in the dark. The project was initiated by the Center for Road Safety, subordinate to the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure of the Moscow State University.
SecurOS Soffit helps improve pedestrian safety, making them much more visible to drivers. The complex detects a person near a pedestrian crossing and provides continuous tracking of a pedestrian along a "zebra" with a bright light beam. So the driver will be able to notice the pedestrian from afar and slow down.
Krasnogorsk is the first city near Moscow where this decision is implemented. SecurOS Soffit is installed at an unregulated pedestrian crossing on ul. Mayakovsky, where a stream of people moves from the House of Culture towards a public transport stop, and drivers often do not miss them.
The complex is designed to focus the driver's attention on the pedestrian, and not on the illumination of signs and other elements of road infrastructure. Even if the pedestrian stops, turns around and walks back, the intelligent system tracks his movement and provides lighting.
The system significantly improves the safety of pedestrians, reducing the likelihood of hitting them. And what is especially important, SecurOS Soffit helps solve a key problem: to reduce the level of injuries and mortality on Russian roads.
The complex is operated in a number of Russian regions and has already proved its effectiveness. When using the Soffit SecurOS, the average speed of a car when passing a pedestrian crossing, when there is a pedestrian on it, is significantly reduced. In addition, the pedestrian's waiting time for a "window" in a stream of cars in the dark is almost approaching this indicator in the daytime. So the complex makes the pedestrian crossing not only safe, but also more comfortable, "said Ilya Demyanenko, head of the ISS Business Development Department. |
