2021: Implement Commvault to protect internal information assets

On August 31, 2021, Commvault, a manufacturer of data management software in the clouds and within the corporate IT infrastructure, announced the implementation of Commvault's Spanish media agent Atresmedia to protect and manage the company's internal information resources.

For more than 10 years, Atresmedia used the Veritas solution for backup inside corporate IT, but when the media group moved part of its workloads to various public clouds, including Microsoft, Amazon AWS and Google, it turned out that this legacy solution does not have the functionality to protect data in the clouds. Atresmedia also needed to provide its journalists and other staff with continuous access to data at any time and anywhere in order for them to continue their work despite the pandemic.

Given the significantly increased risk of ransomware attacks, the company came up with the need to implement a flexible and reliable solution that can serve both the internal IT infrastructure and clouds, and ensure high security and data availability.

Taking into account the specifics of the multimedia market, the customer was required to ensure the confidentiality of information and the security of personal data in order to comply with the requirements of the law and protect the reputation of the Atresmedia brand, so the main criteria for choosing a solution were minimum recovery time and high availability. Having studied the proposals of different vendors, the company's specialists came to the conclusion that only the Commvault solution meets all the requirements for functionality, performance and integration into the infrastructure. Atresmedia introduced Commvault Complete Data Protection to protect data across the customer's internal IT infrastructure and Office 365 mailboxes. Atresmedia uses a complex enterprise IT infrastructure consisting of multiple types of databases, applications, operating systems, and multi-site storage. According to customer feedback, after the implementation of Commvault Complete Data Protection, Atresmedia never had problems or delays in restoring data. RTO and RPO decreased by 40%, a service level agreement (SLA) was implemented by 100%, and Commvault's seamless integration into the customer's IT infrastructure now guarantees business continuity and reputation protection. Customer system administrators have easily mastered the Commvault platform.

Thanks to the technical support provided by Commvault, Atresmedia was able to migrate to the Commvault platform on time and without interrupting operations. As of August, the company is using Commvault to protect its entire internal IT infrastructure and 100 Office 365 mailboxes by storing backups on HPE StoreOnce.
