2021: Launch a platform for deploying and managing container applications
In August 2021, Oracle announced the launch of its first platform designed to deploy and manage container applications. The product is called Oracle Verrazzano Enterprise Container Platform.
The solution is installed on top of the Kubernetes cluster in local environments and cloud environments. As noted in Oracle, the platform provides uniform handling of container applications in any Kubernetes cluster, the ability to migrate microservices between nodes, and provides tools for managing their lifecycle and security.
Oracle Verrazzano is based on Oracle WebLogic Kubernetes Toolkit, which includes a solution for automating application deployment WebLogic Kubernetes Operator, a solution for allocating WebLogic domains, configuring application access, and collecting metrics about system performance.
Verrazzano is a set of open technologies, combined into one stack with included support services. The platform allows you to use the most popular solutions and choose cloud environments, maintaining control over development and a high level of protection for applications.
Oracle users can use Verrazzano to migrate applications to the cloud, migrate to microservices, and manage traditional applications and containers uniformly. In fact, the new solution can be called the "bridge between the two worlds," which helps accelerate development, increase reliability and reduce the time to launch new products and services on the market, the press release said.
Oracle Verrazzano Enterprise Container Platform is part of Oracle's portfolio of standard open source technologies for native cloud applications across multiple environments. The Verrazzano platform became available to developers in August 2021.[1]
