2021: Building a radio channel in a troubled landscape
The mobile operator IndoneziiTelkomsel (Telekomunikasi Selular), chose decisions of the Infinet Wireless company for creation of a radio channel in the conditions of a problem landscape what the last reported on September 2, 2021 about. Telkomsel, which previously used base transceiver stations (BTSs) with microwave technology, VSAT and fiber optic cable, needed to increase throughput using cost-effective solutions. The client opted for Infinet solutions such as Quanta 5, among others. The project resulted in the construction of a 180 km long radio channel, which provided communication in hard-to-reach areas, where the main obstacles were hills, the water surface of the ocean and the islands.
The attention of Telkomsel was attracted by Infinet solutions based on orthogonal frequency multiplexing (OFDM) technology - an excellent choice for a wireless operator with coverage in rural areas. The technology partner in this project was KISEL Group, a provider of services for the creation of telecommunications infrastructure. KISEL Group supplied Infinet equipment, a plan to build radio channels and supported data transmission through OFDM technology.
During planning, KISEL Group engineers relied on reliable operator-class solutions that meet the requirements for efficiency from an economic point of view. This was necessary in order to ensure high throughput and uninterrupted operation in line of sight and near the line of sight. KISEL Group specialists, in turn, turned to Wirakom Sistem, an Infinet solution provider in Indonesia. Together, partners managed to deploy a network infrastructure with a capacity of 108 Mbps, which includes a record-breaking radio channel - 180 km.
Comparing the solutions of various vendors, KISEL Group representatives noted the flexibility of Infinet products in extreme weather conditions and manufacturer's technology. They also drew attention to the level of technical support and the cost of solutions.
Indonesia's heterogeneous landscape dictates its conditions - therefore, Infinet technologies, especially OFDM, came here as easily as possible. Together with the KISEL Group, the operator Telkomsel plans to expand the existing network. Since Infinet's decisions have already proved their effectiveness, the upcoming project promises to be no less successful and profitable.
We were impressed by the Infinet solutions based on OFDM technology - it was they that helped provide communication in remote rural areas. Quanta's affordable and reliable solutions, which guarantee coverage near the line of sight in hilly areas, were especially struck. We also wish to thank our technology partners KISEL Group and Wirakom Sistem. We greatly appreciate the fact that, having implemented several projects, we were able to reduce the cost of satellite communications and cover remote territories. The decisions of Infinet helped to implement what at first seemed almost impossible - a combination of high throughput and excellent quality, "commented Teddy Indira Permana, general director of the transport and planning division of Telkomsel. |
The project, of course, initially promised to be quite difficult due to the long distance between the territories that we planned to cover - more than 180 kilometers. We are more than happy with the results of implementing Infinet wireless solutions. Our efforts were crowned with success: we ensured the necessary productivity in remote areas. In addition, the deployed wireless infrastructure is ready for further expansion, "said Umar Siatri, CEO and Deputy Chairman of the Board of KISEL Group. |
We are proud to present our partners with high-performance wireless solutions "Infinet," which fully lived up to expectations. We built a hundred radio channels with their help, and there is every reason to assume that Quanta 5 will even exceed expectations, "summed up Vivit Ratno Ongko, CEO of Wirakom Sistem. |
