2021: EL Suprema Processor Development

As it became known on September 14, 2021, a Russian computer developer under the Yadro brand (KNS Group LLC, part of the IKS Holding) is developing the Yadro EL Suprema processor family. It belongs to the industrial class (enterprise) and is designed in several modifications. The first products in the line are created on 12 nm technology, in the future it is planned to switch to 7/6 nm technology, which will produce chips for general-purpose servers.

The development of the first representative of this family for storage systems (storage) was also launched in 2021. The chip specification includes up to 48 RISC-V cores with a clock frequency of up to 2.5 GHz. Developers will focus on optimizing the architecture and supporting high-speed exchanges with external devices through the advanced PCIe subsystem.

The company expects to receive the first EL Suprema samples for storage by mid-2023.

The next in this line will develop a modification for general-purpose servers with the ability to support up to 64 RISC-V cores with a clock frequency of 2.5-3 GHz. It will feature the advanced high-speed periphery of recent generations (including PCIe 5.0, DDR 5), providing speed of calculations and exchanges with competitive characteristics "at the level of world analogues." This processor is planning hardware support for virtualization and vector operations.
