Content

Entoprotek is a Russian company engaged in the processing of organic waste. The technology is based on the use of black lionfish fly larvae, which eat food waste, and then later they themselves turn into a fodder protein additive for agricultural animals, as well as cosmetics, medicines and fat, which serves as a component for feed. The startup was founded by Naum Babayev and Rashid Khairov - the owners of Damate, the largest turkey producer in Russia, as well as their partners Ivan Sokolov and Alexander Bastrakov.

History

2021: Raising $2 million

In September 2021, it became known about the investment of $2 million in Entoprotek. The funds were provided by the Israeli agricultural cooperative Granot. The round itself, designed for $30 million, is planned to be completed by the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2021.

Investments will also be used to expand production - it is planned to double it to 30 tons in 2022, Vedomosti reported. The companies also agreed to co-finance a fodder protein plant from organic waste in Israel. Cooperation in the Middle East and Africa is also under consideration.

The plant in the Penza region is designed to process 15 tons of waste per day. Entoprotek plans to increase the capacity of the enterprise to 50 tons.

It is noted that the black lioness has great economic potential, since it is able to process organic waste, including animal excrement, more efficiently and hardware easier than biogas plants. Moreover, such a problem for most poultry farms and pig breeding complexes - as a search for the most environmentally friendly way to process bird and pork litter, can be solved using a black lioness.[1]
