2021: Announcement of the world's first electric bike for snow trails
In mid-September 2021, the world's first electric bicycle for snow tracks was introduced, which was created by Arosno, founded by French entrepreneurs Romain Faure and Agatha LeBaron.
The E-trace electric bike is a kind of lying three-wheeled bicycle with an electric drive. However, instead of wheels, he has two controlled polyethylene skis in front and a Camso snowmobile-style rubber track in rear. The novelty is designed specifically for cycling in the snow.
When the cyclist spins the pedals, he spins the rear wheel with a sprocket through a chain passed through an aluminum alloy frame. This sprocket engages the track, causing it to rotate, thereby moving the vehicle forward.
The cyclist's pedal forces are supplemented by a 250-watt Sachs RS engine, which is powered by a removable 48-volt lithium battery. It is claimed that this scheme provides a maximum speed of 25 km/h and a range of up to 45 km on one battery charge.
The weight of the entire structure is 45 kg, and the maximum weight of a cyclist is 120 kg. Other features include the 45 mm front suspension, the Enviolo stepless transmission, the Magura MT5 eSTOP disc hydraulic brake, as well as the 550 lumen Supernova Mini 2 Pro headlamp and the Supernova E3 rear light. The rack for carrying the second battery is an additional option.
You can make a reservation on the Arosno E-trace, on the company's website. The total cost, before the planned delivery in November 2022, will be €6.7 thousand ($7.9 thousand). Potential buyers can also get acquainted with the Envo Electric SnowBike Kit, which replaces the front and rear wheels of the existing mountain bike with skis and electric rubber tracks, respectively.[1]
