2021: Hospital doctors forgot a needle in the lung of a baby, he died

On September 15, 2021, the Main Investigation Department of the RF IC in St. Petersburg announced the initiation of a criminal case in connection with the death of a 1.5-month-old baby who died after discharge from the Children's City Clinical Hospital No. 5 named after N.F. Filatov.

According to the Telegram channel "Mash on the Wash," in early September 2021, the child was hospitalized in the children's city clinical hospital No. 5 named after Filatov with purulent inflammation. For almost a week he was in the hospital of a medical institution. Among other things, in a week in the hospital he was given an urgent intervention on the autopsy of the abscess. The mother of the child told the portal "78.ru" that the operation was successful.

A day after discharge, the child died in an apartment on Belgrade Street. Later it turned out that the part of the needle left inside damaged his lung. The UK confirmed this information.

The investigating authorities find out all the circumstances of the incident, those responsible for the death of the child will be prosecuted. From hospitals, medical histories are seized, as well as samples of medical devices that carried out procedures for the child. A set of necessary forensic examinations is appointed. The investigation of the criminal case is under the control of the leadership of the Main Investigation Department of the RF IC in the city. A criminal case was instituted under Part 2 of Art. 109 of the Criminal Code ("causing death by negligence due to improper performance by a person of his professional duties, as well as for causing death by negligence to two or more persons").

On September 15, 2021, the St. Petersburg Department of Roszdravnadzor of the Russian Federation announced that it would conduct a check on the death of a baby who was found to have a needle from a syringe in his lung.[1]
