Michael "Monty" Vaydenius (Michael "Monty" Widenius) is the chief author of open-source of the MySQL database management system. Graduated from the Technology university of Helsinki. In 1981 started a career in Tapio Laakso Oy, and in 1985 founded the Swedish softerny company TCX DataKonsult AB on equal footing with Allan Larsson. In 1995 wrote the first version of MySQL which appeared in 1996. A system was sold in January, 2008 to SUN Microsystems, before the entire period Vaydenius headed MySQL AB company. Personally Vaydenius gained 16.6 million euros for sale to the company.

In 2009 One of the chief MySQL DBMS developers with the open code Michael Vaydenius decided to leave Sun Microsystems and to open own company Monty Program AB. Vaydenius's relations and Sun were not ideal from the very beginning when Sun purchased MySQL for 1 billion dollars. In November of last year Vaydenius publicly criticized the solution of the company to give to the version of MySQL 5.1 the status "available for general usage", despite the hard errors which remained in it. As he tells now, then he submitted the withdrawal letter because of disagreement with management policy. As a result Vaydenius agreed to work three more months in hope to improve a situation in development of MySQL. But changes were not fast. Nevertheless, Vaydenius considers, Sun all the same was the best of possible buyers of MySQL.

Monty Program AB should become, according to him, with a small number of workers, and will be engaged in "this developer company of programs with the open code" in a subsystem of storage of Maria which was created Vaydenius with colleagues.
