2021: Announcement of a robot gardener who drives around the greenhouse completely autonomously
In mid-September 2021, Priva entered the market with the world's first fully autonomous robot gardener Kompano. It has already begun to be used in practice.
Crop processing is an important part of daily operations. The problems faced by agricultural producers are becoming more complex. Skilled and paid staff are becoming increasingly scarce, while global food demand continues to grow at an accelerated pace. Robotics provides a solution to this problem, increasing the continuity and predictability of daily operations while maintaining costs at a previous or even lower level.
According to Priva, this is the first robot on the market that can independently move around the greenhouse with employees, and this also makes autonomous round-the-clock leaf cutting in gardening a new reality. Adding that the introduction of robotization is a major revolution in the horticulture market and meets the global need for sustainable innovation with great potential. After careful research and development, always in collaboration with our greenhouse gardeners, the Kompano robot gardener is now fully ready for use on the market.
Kompano is designed for 24-hour care of tomato plants. This is the world's first robot that provides users with a cost-effective alternative for manually removing tomatoes. Intelligent algorithms and patented end capture guarantee more than 85% efficiency with a weekly area of 1 hectare.
The robot gardener simplifies the management of the workforce for farmers, it is easily controlled using an intelligent device and is customized to meet user preferences and requirements. Kompano offers support for equipment training and a comprehensive maintenance program.
Kompano has been tested in several greenhouses in the Netherlands. Priva and MTA in Helmond developed the robot and prepared it for production. A batch of 50 robots by September 2021 is in production at the MTA plant. Over time, the Kompano line will be expanded with a leaf cutting robot for cucumbers and robot cleaners for tomatoes and cucumbers.[1]
