The Kola MMC automates production processes on the Severny-Gluboky mine

July 02, 2010 – Polar. On the Severny-Gluboky mine of Kola Mining and Metallurgical Company (further the Company, the Kola MMC, KGMK) the Mining-and-geological Information System (MAGIS) MineScape is put into trial operation.

Software package of the Australian producer Mincom Pty. Ltd. represents the integrated 3-dimensional CAD system allowing to perform geological modeling of ore fields, to plan and design mining. GGIS consists of several modules using which with the maximum accuracy and in a short time it is possible to calculate, for example, volumes and reserves of ore, to create an optimal template of placement of explosive wells and to calculate explosion parameters, to optimize methods of extraction of ore and the sequence of processing of stocks.

"Input of GGIS in operation will allow to automate a considerable part of production processes and it is rational to use resources – financial, material, human, - that, eventually, will be expressed in serious reducing costs for production", - the CEO of JSC Kola MMC Selyandin Sergey noted.

For implementation of the mining-and-geological MineScape system the summary team consisting of specialists of JSC Kola MMC and Mincom is formed. They perform work on determination of requirements to information for loading in the database and its filling. Specialists of the Australian company assist in debugging of the software product and training of specialists of Northern. For a possibility of development and operation of GGIS on the mine the department is created. Total investment of KGMK in project implementation will be 30.3 million rubles excluding VAT.
