2021: Launch of Functional Safety Analysis Pilot Project

On September 28, 2021, PLM Ural announced that a pilot project for functional safety analysis in accordance with ISO 26262 was launched at the Institute of Transport Systems of NSTU named after R.E. Alekseeva.

The work is carried out as part of the strategic cooperation of Nizhny Novgorod state the technical university named after R.E. Alekseev with the company "" KAE Expert(part of the PLM group of companies Urals). The purpose of the project is to test the model-oriented environment Ansys medini analyze to determine the applicability of the tool when studying active driver assistance systems.

During the first stage of cooperation, the specialists of the Institute of Transport Systems got acquainted with the processes and approaches to assessment of functional safety and reliability calculation in accordance with the industry standard ISO 26262. Further, with the support of KAE Expert, the researchers performed safety analysis by HAZOP, HARA, FMEA, formulated safety goals, and also defined functional and technical safety concepts in the Ansys medini analyze environment.

Functional safety analysis according to ISO 26262 is an integral part of the design of safe systems and components in the automotive industry. Without its use, it is impossible to integrate systems or components in a complex product, as well as the training of future automotive engineers. Automation in this case allows you to significantly reduce labor costs and accelerate the development process, "said Peter Rogov, deputy director of the NTSU Regional Scientific and Educational Center for Transport Engineering.
