2021: Creating Ammunition with Supercomputer Digital Doubles
On October 1, 2021, it became known that the Bakhirev Research Engineering Institute of Technodinamika Holding introduced supercomputer technologies and digital doubles into the process of creating ammunition. During virtual research, the main characteristics of the shots were calculated: acceleration in the barrel, external ballistics, armor penetration. Existing technologies will reduce the number of field tests and significantly reduce the costs of their implementation and the duration of work.
The goal of the project "IMI named after Bakhirev," which started in 2018, was the development of a supercomputer double of the cumulative tank shell "Double - KS." The project included the development of technology for supercomputer modeling of a cumulative explosion, as well as the processes of the projectile in the conditions of firing, on the trajectory and interaction with the barrier.
"The results of the work showed a high identity of modeling during real tests at the landfill, which confirmed the feasibility of developing this direction - the creation of digital doubles. In 2021, on the basis of all R&D, we prepared three projects using domestic supercomputer modeling technologies and, together with Rostec state corporation, developed and coordinate a Strategy for the digital transformation of all defense enterprises included in the management loop of the holding, "- noted the general director of JSC "Technodinamika" Igor Nasenkov. |
Specialists of the institute conducted the main stages of calculations - the movement of a projectile in the barrel of a tank gun, modeling the processes of the functioning of ammunition on the trajectory, the behavior of the projectile at the target. The main characteristics of armor-piercing action were also determined. During the research, calculations of the projectile flight, speed and direction of movement, as well as the stressed-deformed state of the ammunition in the barrel of the tank gun were obtained.
The software and methodological complex for modeling cumulative ammunition was developed on the basis of domestic applied subsystems.
Also in 2021, NIMI named after Bakhireva is working on the creation of digital doubles for high-explosive fragmentation tank shells. At the beginning of October 2021, proposals and working materials were prepared for the opening of the Dual-OFS R&D. [1]
