"Krok" provided a single notary system of the Russian Federation with adaptive storage for load growth

2021: Implementation of NetApp StorageGrid

IT company Kroc has implemented a productive, scalable and easy-to-manage repository for 8,000 notaries across the country. The transition to an updated software and hardware complex will allow the Federal Notary Chamber to effectively work with documents, ensuring their safety at the level of 99.999% for at least a decade.

The Unified Notary Information System (UISN) was launched in 2014 as part of the Electronic Government program. Since then, its functionality has been constantly increasing. Since 2018, all notarial actions, including transactions and other decisions of citizens, have been registered in the system. As of October 2021, up to 130 thousand documents pass through the ESN annually, but in the near future their number should multiply.

Since 2019, the Federal Notary Chamber has been participating in the government program "Digital Economy of Russia." Within its framework, the ESN has been significantly modernized - in particular, to prepare the notary service for the growing load, the object repository NetApp StorageGRID was introduced.

The created infrastructure is compatible with a large number of equipment of various manufacturers, including Russian suppliers of OEM solutions. This allows you to replace individual components over the long term as they become obsolete and scale the environment flexibly. The storage is also characterized by high performance (up to 2 GB per second), providing quick download of documents certified by the notary's UCE, and the same quick search for them in the system. Finally, the storage system is easy to operate: to replenish the UIS database, you do not need to additionally convert or convert documents, search for relevant files thanks to indexing.

The project was preceded by an audit identifying customer needs and comparing existing solutions in the market. Then CRIC designed and commissioned the equipment of the main site, to which the mirror infrastructure was then added in the second client data center for service fault tolerance.

The storage for October 2021 "lies" 400 terabytes of data. We assume that in the next year or two the volume of stored documents may increase multiples. The tendency to growth of load of infrastructure and the requirement to store documents a long time is those calls with which we cope through the CROC company now.
