2021: Development of an automated room protection system

Young researchers from Perm Polytechnic have developed an automated system for protecting premises. Artificial intelligence and biometric access will provide "smart" access to the building and save business funds. This was announced by the university on October 7, 2021.

Many organizations need reliable and inexpensive protection of premises. Unlike other security systems that use, our development involves biometric access and artificial intelligence, which will significantly increase the level of reliability. The information will be stored on a small server and processed by our "smart" program, "said Ilya Ivanov, one of the developers, a student of the electrotechnical faculty of Perm Polytechnic.

The automated control system includes a server, artificial intelligence, a camera, a door closing actuator, a siren and a lighting control relay. According to the developers, the product is universal and can be quickly adapted to the individual conditions of the customer.

The system is based on image processing and smart home technologies. In addition to protecting the room, it provides control of light, siren and camera using artificial intelligence, and also automatically opens doors. Development quickly notifies the user of attempts to enter the building.

Other security methods, such as signaling or RFID card access, do not provide complete security or are not always easy to use. In particular, the alarm works only if there are no people in the room, and another person can access the RFID card. Our system does not require additional devices for identifying the user, for example, cards or keys. The technology of automatic recognition of a person according to biometric data guarantees full protection from ill-wishers at any time, "the developer explained.

Young researchers have already created a prototype system that works. In the near future, they plan to launch small-scale production of the product.
