2021: Fine for 80 thousand rubles
In October 2021, the former head physician of the perinatal center Nikolai Sushentsov in Yoshkar-Ola, from where the newborn child was previously abducted, was fined 80 thousand rubles. This was reported by the press service of the prosecutor's office of the republic.
The incident occurred in March 2020. Then a girl was abducted from the ward of the maternity hospital while the mother of the child was in procedures. According to witnesses, that day they saw a woman in the hospital who was not lying there.
In order to search for the baby, by order of the Minister of the Interior for the Republic of Mari El Sergey Volchkov, the entire police personnel was raised on alarm. The search for the missing child and the persons involved in his disappearance was focused on external police outfits, operatives, district commissioners and employees of the juvenile affairs units of the internal affairs bodies of the republic. Volunteers joined the events.
As it turned out, the 34-year-old girl took the child and left the ward with him, went down to the reception room and left the building of the perinatal center. Harm to the health of the newborn is not caused. The kidnapper fully admitted her guilt.
Criminal proceedings were instituted under article 126 of the Criminal Code (abduction of a minor) and article 293 of the Criminal Code (negligence). The baby was found on the same day, the kidnapper in December 2020 was sentenced to six years in a penal colony. The head physician was relieved of his post.
The investigation and the court found that the chief doctor of the GBU of the Republic of Mari El "Perinatal Center," showing criminal negligence, did not ensure the protection of the territory and administrative building of the headed institution. As a result, this event occurred.
In the criminal case, more than 60 witnesses were questioned, forensic medical and genetic examinations were appointed and conducted.
